The International Journal of Historical Learning, Teaching and Research is a fully refereed international publication with articles for practitioners, scholars and researchers in education.

IJHLTR provides a major focal point for the publication of research at the intersection between theory, practice and research throughout the world. It aims to be a vibrant, dynamic forum which will inform and be a pleasure to read.

The journal focuses upon the disciplines of both history and education, but draws upon the academic discourses of related areas. It includes reports on curricular initiatives and developments in both teaching and training, papers on research into different aspects of history education, discussions of conceptual, philosophical, methodological matters, accounts of research in progress, book reviews and discussion and debate on matters of concern and controversy to the History Education community.

The journal is published twice a year in January and July.

The editorial team consists of:

Jacqui Dean Leeds Metropolitan University
Robert Guyver College of St.Mark and St.John, Plymouth
Terry Haydn University of East Anglia
Jon Nichol University of Exeter
Kate Watson University of Exeter

Details concerning the submission of articles can be found on the website www.ex.ac.uk/historyresource

Attached please find the contents pages of the first five volumes.

The final two volumes are both testimonies in different ways to two great figures in the world of History Education: John Fines and Robert Phillips

Volume 2/2 ‘Letting the Past Speak’ is John Fines’ own selection of papers from a career that spanned forty years. They cover most aspects of the History Teacher’s craft and are as fresh and pertinent as when they were penned.

Volume 3/1 is Robert Phillips’ final publication, a collection of papers form a conference he organised on ‘British Island Stories: History, Schools and Nationhood. Editing went on until the final tragic point in his career – we hope that they are a fitting testimony.
